    The key role of the manufacturing engineer is to provide technical support to current product manufacturing and plan and implement capital projects. You will work with the manufacturing teams to ensure products are built to the appropriate standards and to bring about continuous improvement in all areas of operations. You will ensure that the highest level of quality and process effectiveness is built into manufacturing & have responsibility for the planning, management and implementation of capital expenditure projects on time and to budget.

    MAIN DUTIES:

    Manufacturing Support Responsibilities:
    You will work with the manufacturing teams to bring about continuous improvement in all areas of Operations. You will be available to provide first line technical support to the manufacturing team in your designated area of responsibility within the operations function. From time to time you may be called upon to support other areas as demand dictates. You will ensure the highest possible level of manufacturing quality and process effectiveness.

    Project Management Responsibilities:
    You will be responsible for the planning, justification and implementation of capital expenditure project plans, ensuring projects are implemented within budget and agreed timescales. All projects will be managed to ensure that suppliers deliver their equipment to the agreed specification and that all health and safety requirements are met.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

    You will have an honours degree or equivalent (i.e. recognised status by a professional institute), preferably in production engineering, or thermal vacuum technology with ideally five years experience in a manufacturing environment. You will be flexible, a level thinker and capable of solving wide-ranging technical problems using structured problem solving techniques and data analysis. Ideally you will have exposure to six sigma tools and techniques to at least green belt level. You will also ideally have knowledge of PLC programming and machine maintenance. You will be able to communicate with people at all levels in the organisation. You will be able to complete tasks on time using appropriate planning tools with the minimum of supervision. Occasional travel overseas may be required.
