    TECHNICAL ASSISTANT ~ GODMANCHESTER

    JOB PURPOSE

    To provide support to the Back End Of Line group, by the reliable and timely execution of experiments in the areas of cathode deposition.

    ACTIVITIES

    ·Use of modelling software to design and optimise top emitting device structures.
    ·Execution of experiments to explore dependence of LEP device performance on device structure.
    ·Fabrication of devices using spin-coating, vacuum deposition and encapsulation techniques.
    ·Work with BEOL Engineers to integrate novel outcoupling architectures
    ·Testing of devices using a range of electrical and optical techniques, reflectivity, goniometric emission profiling etc.
    ·Analysis and reporting of device results using in-house software and Excel.
    ·Produce and deliver presentations to internal and external meetings.
    ·Write reports of engineering investigations and studies.
    ·Ensuring work procedures are followed and all necessary controls operating.
    ·Maintaining high standards of housekeeping locally.
    ·Investigating constructively, with the Health, Safety and Environmental Adviser if necessary, any incidents, which occur in their area and putting forward procedural or other changes, which may be judged necessary.
    ·Taking reasonable care for own health and safety and that of other persons who may be affected by acts or omissions at work.
    ·Working safely as trained to do and use any equipment and safety devices in accordance with training in its use and instructions in respect of its use, which are provided by the employer.

    KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED

    ·Engineering, physics or materials scientist graduate or experienced technician (2 years in a scientific / engineering / hi-tech manufacturing environment) with a HND in engineering or the physical sciences.
    ·Experience in working in a clean room preferred.
    ·Good manual dexterity.
    ·Experience of working with vacuum processing equipment preferred.
    ·Experience of working with computer controlled analytical equipment.
    ·Experience of microscopy and other thin film metrology an advantage.
    ·An ability to work unsupervised for long periods without losing touch with the aims of the team.
    ·A calm and methodical approach to work during busy periods
    ·An ability to solve technical problems under one’s own initiative, with a willingness to seek expert assistance when required.
    ·An ability to react quickly and appropriately to changing priorities and unexpected demands.
    ·Strong organisational skills and good attention to detail.
    ·Excellent communication skills.
    ·Computer literate with a good working knowledge of MS Excel. Experience of using MS Word and PowerPoint, together with statistical software packages.

    HOURS: 8:30AM - 5PM
    SALARY £18-22K (DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE)
