As Prinicipal Electronic Engineer you will contribute to major development projects in a technical lead or project management role. The position will require working within a team of highly talented, multi-disciplinary engineers to develop world-leading medical products for our clients around the globe.
As a principal electronic engineer, you will take the technical lead working closely with other electronic and software engineers while integrating with other technicians, engineers, consultants and other designers. You will be required to organise the electronic and software engineering design effort to meet project requirements as well as providing creative solutions to problems.
You will become the first point of contact for both clients and other engineers on projects you are involved with for technical issues. Your role will include using your strong technical expertise to liaise with clients to understand their technical needs in a project and writing proposals which capture these needs.
You will be involved with the hands-on product development and design of electronic systems. Your strong creative and technical skills should allow you to make a significant contribution to development projects and to participate in consultancy work within client companies.
Minimum requirements:
To meet the demanding requirements of this role you will have an excellent first degree in electronic or electronic and software engineering and you will have substantial experience in an electronic engineering role.
A solid knowledge base in analogue, digital and embedded systems will be a strong advantage for this role as will experience of working in the medical device sector.
You will have excellent team working skills and the ability and enthusiasm to train and mentor less experienced staff. You will also have strong client communication and management skills.
A proven ability to manage a team of engineers and technicians is highly desirable as is an appreciation of risk management tools used in product development.
You will have skills including interfacing with sensors and actuators, low-noise design techniques, analogue modelling tools, signal integrity, power supply basics, EMC, and a good grasp of both theory and practical lab work.
Significant experience of one or more of the following would also be advantageous:
Opto-electronic sensing systems
Analogue to Digital and Digital to Analogue conversion techniques
Signal Processing using FPGAs, DSPs and general purpose microcontrollers
Control of motors and actuators
Implementing IEC 60601 requirements
Power supply design
Product architectural design
Design for manufacture
Interface between hardware and software
