Our client leads the development of display technology based on polymer organic light emitting diodes (P-OLEDs). P-OLEDs offer superior performance characteristics to other display technologies, such as liquid crystal displays, in many applications.
JOB PURPOSE
To provide process development and improvement for the encapsulation of displays, including the development of mechanical processes and barrier layer technology. This is very much a “hands-on”, clean-room based role necessary to support the development of organic devices.
ACTIVITIES
Process sustaining and improvement of the 14 inch encapsulation line
Device testing and evaluation, including the development of metrics for mechanical testing of encapsulation such as:
Calcium testing process development
Pull Testing process development
Mandrel testing
Process development for substrates and displays, involving the following areas:
Barrier layers
Encapsulation technology
Production planning for substrate supply to process groups
Process development for encapsulation through metal deposition and encapsulation tools
Development, integration and improvement of BEOL processes
Support production operation of metal deposition on deposition tools
Working with other engineers and scientists on quality improvements and yield investigations
Lab upkeep and maintenance of a clean and safe working environment
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED
·Physics, material science, process engineering graduate (around 5 years in a hi-tech engineering or manufacturing environment)
·In-depth technical understanding and experience in the following areas:
barrier layers deposition methods and metrics
glass material properties
process control and variation reduction i.e. SPC, six sigma
adhesives materials and properties
encapsulation tooling e.g. Musashi or Asymtek
clean-room working practices
·An ability to work unsupervised for long periods without losing touch with the aims of the team.
·A calm and methodical approach to work during busy periods
·An ability to solve technical problems under one’s own initiative with a working knowledge of formal problem solving techniques
·An ability to react quickly and appropriately to changing priorities and unexpected demands
·Good team-playing skills and the ability to operate in multi-disciplinary/cross-functional teams
·Strong practical nature
·Strong organisational skills and good attention to detail.
·Excellent communication skills
·Computer literate – Good working knowledge of Microsoft software. Experience of MS Project, Autocad, Access. Knowledge of statistical software packages
·Demonstrable experience in the management of technical projects
