    Our client leads the development of display technology based on polymer organic light emitting diodes (P-OLEDs). P-OLEDs offer superior performance characteristics to other display technologies, such as liquid crystal displays, in many applications.

    JOB PURPOSE

    To develop technology to improve the performance and manufacturability of organic electronic devices

    MAIN ACTIVITIES

    ·Development of surface energy control to improve printing processes.
    Evaluation of surface energy.
    Use of novel materials to achieve low surface energy features to improve ink. placement for OLED and OTFT materials.
    Evaluation of geometric enhancement to surface energy features.
    Evaluation of performance of against specification – physical and electrical.
    ·Modelling of drop spreading using CFD software and parameterisation of surface and inks.
    ·Development of structures to improve light outcoupling from OLED devices
    Process development for sub-micron structures in proximity to anode and cathode layers.
    Incorporation of random and self-aligned scattering structures within the OLED device.
    Critical evaluation of nano-imprint technologies for rigid flat and flexible substrates.
    ·Testing of devices using a range of electrical and optical techniques including IVL, reflectivity, goniometric emission profiling.
    ·Analysis and reporting of device results using in-house software and Excel.
    ·Recognise and submit new inventions to the IP Team.
    ·Produce and deliver presentations to internal and external meetings.
    ·Write reports of engineering investigations and studies.
    ·Organise meetings with agenda, appropriate people, write minutes and follow up actions.

    KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED


    ·Degree level or higher in Physics, Surface Chemistry, Materials Science or related subject.
    ·Several years experience in surface assembly techniques the the surface patterning thereof
    ·Several years working in a cleanroom or similar hi-tech environment.
    ·Deep understanding of thin film patterning processes for deep sub-micron features.
    ·Evidence of creative ability in novel thin film process development.
    ·Hands-on experience of process problem solving and design of process trials.
    ·Good experience in surface science analytical techniques
    ·Strong practical nature and good technical problem solving
    ·Strong computer literacy – ability to write code for data analysis.
    ·Motivated individual with good initiative, and a proven ability to solve problems on-the-fly.
    ·Good team-playing skills and the ability to operate in multi-disciplinary/cross-functional teams.
    ·Results orientated and committed to the goals of the company.
    ·Individual who is organised and methodical.
    ·Individual who has the resilience and determination to follow the solution of a complex and difficult problem through to completion.
    ·Good communication skills especially report writing.
