The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute is a world leader in genomic research, with an expanding scientific programme dedicated to understanding gene function in health & disease.
We are seeking a highly organised individual to deliver consistent, high quality administrative services to support the Deputy Director in the delivery of his scientific programme and Board of Director responsibilities.
Working closely with the Director’s PA and other key Research Administrators, you will provide advice and services relating to oversight of Institute management, identifying and actioning key tasks and priorities. You will assist in the preparation of research grant applications and contracts, including identifying opportunities, advising on terms and conditions and ensuring applications are appropriately costed.
Essential Skills
Candidates should have a first degree and experience of working in a similar role, preferably within a research administration environment. You will have financial awareness with a good understanding of the basic elements of costing and pricing, an eye for detail and accuracy and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You will be an experienced multi-tasker capable of meeting deadlines and working in a pressured environment.
Ideal Skills
Previous work experience/good working knowledge of molecular biology or genetics and experience of providing executive support at Board level would be desirable.

This position is fixed-term for 4 years.
