Job Description
My Client, a market leader within the Defence sector have an URGENT need for a Contracts Manager. Work is due to start no later than 27th September (ideally earlier) and candidates MUST have Security Clearance.
Principle Purpose of Job
- To negotiate and finalise allocated customer and supplier contracts
- To establish and maintain the administration of allocated customer contracts
- Provide support & guidance to the business area Commercial staff
- To provide Commercial guidance to those key organizational functions including but not limited to Procurement and Programmes
- To ensure that any business that the company enters into is legally compliant, supports corporate policy and bears the minimum acceptable exposure to risk and maximises potential profitability.
- To provide commercial guidance to Support Projects
Main Responsibilities
- Negotiation of Customer and Supplier contracts in accordance with Company guidelines
- Responsibility for administration and day-to-day management of allocated contracts and related sub- contracts within the business area.
- Responsibility for the resolution of contractual issues or disputes.
- New and follow-on business proposal writing.
- Preparation of Confidentiality Agreements (as necessary) in accordance with Company Procedures.
- Monitor contract performance to ensure company compliance against Terms and Conditions
- Control invoicing, cash, bookings and billings of allocated programmes
- Ownership of and responsibility for achieving cash and cost targets for those allotted contracts within the business area,including the maintenance of accurate and timely forecasts of cash receipts from Billings.
- Preparation, submission and logging of quotations in compliance with QMS Procedures
- Attend internal and external meetings and provide day-to-day communication with the customer and/or Subcontractors/Suppliers.
- Support business area team negotiations with new and existing customers/Sub-contractors to minimise liability of company & to maximise profit margins
- Input and maintenance of company Information Systems, database logs and company Intranet
- Liaise with customers and subcontractors to discuss and resolve commercial issues on those allocated contracts.
- Raise the internal awareness of risk, particularly commercial risks.
- Monitor programmes and inform Programme Managers of risk elements introduced.
- Liaise and support all departments as required to ensure risk is managed effectively.
- Work proactively to turn potential risks into positive outcomes for the business.
- Liaise with customers to discuss and resolve issues. Also plays a major role in the creation of the risk management plan.
- Work alongside and support business area Programme Managers.
Skills/Knowledge Required:
- Knowledge of terms and conditions and contractual law
- Knowledge of Drafting of Tenders, Contracts and other Commercial documentation including requests for quotation
- A clear understanding of the basic order/invoice process
- Knowledge of finance processes
Desirable:
- Experience of working with other major defence contractors desirable
- Working knowledge of UK MOD Contracting policies & procedures desirable
