Job Description

Our client, based in Peterborough is looking to recruit a Mechanical Engineer with a minimum of 3 years' post graduate experience in industry. Candidates must have a degree in mechanical instrumentation, engineering or a related subject.

The role of the Mechanical Engineer is to work within our client's engineering team on new and existing product development.

This position will require the ability to work within a team oriented environment.

A high degree of self motivation is essential as is the ability to contribute to the development of the company's cutting edge products.

Working on the specific project drawings for industrial process analysers and photometric instruments supplied to the power, cement, chemical and incineration instruments, taking responsibility for verifying performance, and meeting cast targets. You will also produce full documented designs for production and manage the company drawings / procedures in compliance with ISO 9000 quality system and manage Cenelec /CE approval activities.

It is essential that you have a degree in mechanical instrumentation, engineering or related subject and ability to design to a manufacture standard in CAD environment (AutoCAD), and interface with optics and electronics specialists as required. Post qualification experience should include design work for instruments using optics, flow and thermal calculations, corrosion resistant materials and desirably approvals.

You must display good interpersonal skills and the ability to work under pressure to achieve strict deadlines. This will require a high level of motivation, commitment and the potential to develop new skills.

Qualifications* Degree

* HND in Mechanical Engineering, equivalent or better qualification

Experience

Essential

* Minimum of 3 years post graduate experience in industry

* Good CAD skills

* Experience of instrumentation design

* Product life cycle (Concept to Production)

* Good materials knowledge

* Hands on prototyping (some workshop skills)

Desirable

* Optics, thermal design, packaging (Enclosures), vibration damping

* Electro Mechanical Design

* Appreciation of EMC issues

* Willing to learn new skills
