Job Description
Our client, based in Cambridge is looking for a Test Development Engineer with a working knowledge of Linux OS, and who has been involved with test development from the initial product prototype schematics in a product environment seeing the test implementation right through to factory installation/training and subsequent product life maintenance.
Key responsibilities and tasks
* Maintain and improve existing Linux based implementations (including software GUI) and supporting production tools.
* Support of all test systems in the factory (potential travel overseas for online support).
* Support of development in all tests fixtures.
* Maintenance of test equipment used for production.
Skills and Experience
Essential
* Working knowledge of Linux OS.
* Experience of writing tests in a Linux environment.
* Maintenance and debug of existing GUIs.
* Understanding of RF, analogue and digital circuits in relation to test development.
* Problem solving with respect to all aspects of test (Mechanical, Electrical and Software)
* Ability to read schematics and devise production test with support from development engineers.
* Strong personal motivation to deliver solutions that require minimal long term support but high flexibility in early development phase of the project.
* Able to maintain and improve test systems over a product lifecycle.
* Understanding of the test requirements for volume production test and RMA.
* High attention to detail and quality of deliverables.
* Willing to travel abroad to support production installing and debugging.
Desired
* Labview programming skills
* Been involved in generating test methods (suitable for coding) from a schematic with minimal help from development engineers.
* Understands the fixture requirements for a volume product.
* Experience of international travel for manufacturing test commissioning and support
* Capable of explaining test implementation to enable a manufacturing test engineer to fix a product fault.
* Confident with RF test equipment like Network Analyser, Spectrum analyser and Power meter.
* Has specified and developed electronic test PCBs for testers.
