Job Description
Our client, based in Cambridge, is looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to work alongside their two existing Mechanical Design Engineers on a variety of infrared thermal imaging related projects. The ideal candidate will have good A level grades and a mechanical engineering degree and have a good understanding of the technologies involved in their current experience.
Work Profile
This post will involve working in the mechanical engineering department on new product design and development. The work will involve 3D modelling (Solidworks), design analysis, drafting, supplier and customer liaison, prototype building, product testing and production support.
Academic Qualifications
The role would suit a candidate who is bright and industrious, with good A level grades and a good mechanical engineering degree.
Experience Required
Candidates should be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of the technologies involved in their current experience. The successful applicant will be genuinely interested in the process of mechanical design and development and capable of being individually responsible for their work. The individual should be strongly self motivated and happy to encompass the work from leading edge design to straightforward mechanical drafting.
Other important qualities include a good academic background and the ability and enthusiasm to find out about, and work in, new areas. A demonstrable commitment to producing 'right first time', on-schedule, quality work is essential.
Candidates should be able to show the ability to work in a 3D modelling environment (preferably Solidworks) and produce high quality drawings. The candidates should also provide evidence of working on new product design and development.
Other skills that would be beneficial include: experience of rapid prototyping, injection moulding, 3D surface modelling, FEA and thermal analysis, design of military products.
