Job Description

Our client, based in Cambridge is seeking a Technical Support Engineer with Oracle SQL and database administration skills. Candidates must have proven experience in analysing Oracle relationship data models and the ability to review and write PL/SQL. Working knowledge with Citrix XenApp and other virtualisation technologies is required.

As Technical Support Engineer you will provide first class technical support for our client's solutions, with a focus on scientific informatics platforms. Providing timely, accurate and comprehensive responses to customer issues throughout Europe via email, telephone and on-site customer visits as required, you will be a key member of the European support team and consistently demonstrate advanced problem solving and investigative skills in resolving customer issues.

Working closely with leading industry and academic researchers in a consultative support role, you will also act as a liaison to the Product Development and Marketing teams regarding customer reported issues, software testing, customer support training and scientific validation.

You will show resourcefulness by demonstrating the ability to use a variety of tools to investigate and solve issues, record and clearly communicate the bug fixes and contribute solutions to the company's knowledge base.

This role requires an individual to have strong trouble shooting skills of n-tier applications, possess a good knowledge of server technologies (UNIX/Linux or Windows) and Oracle database administration, combined with a scientific background in Chemistry or Biology.

The successful candidate must possess Oracle SQL and database administration skills, have proven experience in analysing Oracle relationship data models and the ability to review and write PL/SQL scripts. Working knowledge with Citrix XenApp and other virtualisation technologies is required and working knowledge of Java and JavaScript based web application development desired.

Self-driven and self-motivated you are clearly able to work independently as well as being a team player and you can demonstrate exceptional problem solving skills and strong organisational skills allowing you to set priorities and manage your workload accordingly.

With the ability to handle customer situations with tact and diplomacy, you possess excellent interpersonal skills and superior verbal and written communications skills.

Fluency in English and German is essential.

Travel may be required for up to 15% of the time.
