Job Description

Our client is looking for experienced CNC machinists to work within their machine shop, for both production machining and also to work closely with the R&D team for the manufacture of challenging precision prototype parts. The client has vacancies for both a short term contractor, to carry out immediate standard programming tasks as well as a longer term, more senior machinist where the ideal candidate will have experience of setting, programming and operating CNC machining centres, manual turning and milling and also possesses associated tool room skills.

Applicants must be familiar with Haas and Heidenhain control systems. The senior position offers real management growth potential as additional plant, processes and personnel are added to the facility.

Duties:

* To program, set-up and run a variety if manual and CNC machines to produce precision components from a variety of materials

* To collaborate with our R&D team in precision prototype design and manufacture

* Ensure quality of product produced meets requirements

* Ensure machines are running to their maximum potential /efficiency

* Carry out all machining activities are carried out in accordance with the company's safe working and environmental requirements

Knowledge & Skills

* Must be time served machinist/toolmaker with experience of manual and CNC machine tools

* Must have a good understanding of engineering drawings and machining methods

* Experience with Haas and Heidenhain control systems

* A core competency in 4-axis milling

* A working knowledge of CAD/CAM software (preferably Solidworks and GibbsCAM)

* Good PC skills

* OEE data collection and interpretation

* Team leader or management experience would be beneficial
