Job Description

Our client, based in St. Neot's, Cambridgeshire is looking for a Programme Manager with established high integrity Information Systems project/programme skills to work on their Information Systems and Enterprise programmes. The successful candidate will be degree qualified with 5-15 years' management experience in the Defence or Secure IT sectors.

The Programme Manager role will comprise substantial initial business development working followed by programme management and client sustainment.

A Business aware manager and leader is required, rather than someone with niche technical expertise. Market knowledge and experience related to: Defence, Security, High Integrity commercial IS systems, High integrity web or data hosting.

Candidates must have

Experience of original development of systems and software as a Programme Manager.

Understanding of development methods, tools and environment is important, as is the ability to manage timescales, costs and risks in development.

Solid experience at managing Enterprise level application development, installation and support.

Some experience of Business Process modelling.

Some experience of managing Enterprise architecture development and implementation.

Some experience of at either application and software product level or information system level.

An understanding of the practicalities of new or innovative solutions and able to lead in developing a business case, including assisting or managing others on multiple business leads.

An understanding of the balance of technical proposition, relationships, financial and contractual rigour in a well regarded medium sized business.

A self managing ability, being able to guide senior non-specialists and knowing when to encourage them to 'take control' is important.

The ability to engage unassisted with a very wide range of internal staff, customers and with any suppliers.

Typical other accountabilities

* Part of the general management capability

* Strong relationship building skills - able to engage at highest management levels, senior technical/operational levels and all admin levels

* Able to judge between conflicting priorities using own initiative, with prioritisation meetings every 2 weeks - 1 month with senior company management

* Able to guide/advise skilled but more junior Project Management colleagues

* Understands senior staff and Director motivations, responsibilities and pressures

* Knows when to seek specialist advice or recommend professional advisory

* Interest in progressing within a developing business - helping the business grow in capability and maturity by taking on new or changing management tasks

Requirements:

Degree qualified

5-15 years management experience

A manager and leader with client facing Business Development and programme management skills

Proficient in the use of MS Office

Experience in the Defence or Secure IT sectors

Must hold a valid full UK driving licence

Member of professional body or something which demonstrates CPD
