Job Description

Our client, based in Royston, Hertfordshire is seeking an Electronics Engineer with significant experience in a project led environment, ideally in high technology industry. Candidates should have a degree in Electrical/Electronic engineering or physics combined with extensive experience of developing complex electronic and electrical systems.

The role of the Electronics Engineer is to be responsible for concept development, creation and maintenance of detailed electronic and electrical designs, commissioning and testing of new systems and enhancements to existing systems.

To provide a source of expertise to the group on electronics, pcb development, electrical design and control systems.

To be responsible for the electronic and electrical engineering on projects. To deliver electronic and electrical design for projects within time cost and quality requirements.

Such projects will often consist of a mixture of re-using IP and development

Key Job Accountabilities

* Realise system requirements into electronic and electrical designs

* Ensure that the designs meet the functional and technical specifications within specified time, cost and quality requirements

* Design, develop and undertake appropriate test plans

* Develop and complete required documentation

* Participate in design reviews

* Report progress against project plans

* Participate in the assembly, commissioning and acceptance testing and support of new and existing systems as required

* Estimate costs and timelines for work, and report progress as required

* Identify and resolve problems, implement the necessary changes in accordance with Tap standards

* To participate in continuous improvement activities.

* To undertake work in accordance with the appropriate Quality Standards and processes.

* To become and be accepted as an expert in all aspects of electronic and electrical engineering at TAP, including PCB design, analogue electronics and sensor development and integration, regulatory compliance (LVD, EMC, UL, CE), safety circuit design and power systems.

* To provide expertise in electrical engineering to others, as required

* To provide a successful interface between hardware and machine control

Education/Qualifications/Special Training

Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Physics combined with extensive experience of developing complex electronic and electrical systems.

Experience

Significant experience as an engineer in a project led environment, ideally in high technology industries involving

* Microcontrollers and distributed I/O Technologies

* Novel sensor development/integration

* Motors and drives, Servo Systems and Power Supplies

* Designing for CE and UL requirements (LVD, EMC and machine safety circuits)

* Process control

* Commissioning and fault finding

* Appreciation of mechanical systems and mechanical design

* Expertise in both digital and analogue electronics

* Demonstrable experience of taking a lead role in multi-disciplinary engineering teams, including the specification, design, procurement, build, installation and commissioning of complex mechanical systems.
