Job Description

Our client, based in Cambridgeshire is seeking an Engineer with experience in thin film fabrication in an industrial R&D environment.

The successful candidate will have an MSc or PhD in thin film device fabrication, preferably optoelectronics and preferably in organic LEDs

1. JOB PURPOSE

Develop OLED devices that integrate structures that enhance the outcoupling of light. Perform optical characterisation of P-OLED based lighting and displays devices. Work closely with device and modelling activities to drive forward improved understanding of optical device performance.

2. KEY RESULT AREAS

Results are expected in the following areas;

* Thin film fabrication processes that integrate light outcoupling into OLED devices

* Characterisation of light outcoupling structures

* Characterisation of OLED devices that incorporate light outcoupling structures

* Computer simulation of OLED devices that incorporate light outcoupling structures

* IP disclosures in above and related areas

3. MAIN ACTIVITIES

* Device fabrication associated with incorporation of outcoupling structures and optical characterisation of devices in collaboration with project members and other company staff.

* Run optical models for relevant device structures

* Liaise with scientists/engineers to provide device optical characterisation and device optimisation through optical modelling.

* Develop plan with project manager and report progress against plan on regular basis

* Keep up to date with external developments in the area of optical out-coupling

* Provide support for device fabrication for government funded project related to optical enhancement.

4. KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

* Work closely with group members developing novel lighting device architectures

* Work closely with project leader for optical project

* Provide support to project teams, both within and outside the company.

* Liaise with modelling team on device characterisation and optimisation

* Work with IP department on all areas of IP

5. KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED

* MSc or PhD in thin film device fabrication, preferably optoelectronic devices and preferably in organic LEDs

* Preferably post-graduate experience in thin film fabrication, preferably in industrial R&D environment

* Computer literacy is essential

* Team player showing strong leadership skills

* Good presentational skills essential

* An independent, innovative, resourceful and highly motivated individual.
