Job Description
Our client, based in Cambridge is seeking a Software Group Leader to perform day to day running of the group, assigning work to engineers and keeping track of any new work items as they arrive, prioritising appropriately for a smoothly running group.
Provide technical direction to the group with the input from the assigned technical consultant. Some of the technical direction may be delegated depending on expertise; however the group leader has ultimate responsibility.
Key responsibilities
* Manage the development and test of software work packages to an agreed timescales
* Support road mapping of technical features for audio framework software
* Ensure that the relevant software process is followed including documentation, software development, defect tracking, software release procedures and release notes
* Provide regular reports to line management and project management both verbally and via written reports
* Provide technical guidance and support to team in the development and maintenance of audio framework software
* Responsible for the line management of the team; career development, salary, grading and resource allocation and recruitment
Person Specification - required
* Degree (or equivalent qualification/experience) in maths/science/software/electronics
* Competent individual with a proven technical track record in the field of software engineering
* Knowledge of software development techniques and methodology
* Direct customer contact experience
* Ability to take ownership of projects with no supervision
* Excellent communication skills at all levels
