Job Description
Our client, based in Cambridge is looking to recruit a Strategic Buyer with a minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
The company has a growing business based in Cambridge. Their growth is connected to many NPI projects which very often will have to be handled within a short time. Part of the company's production will be dedicated to prototype build only, and require the Strategic Buyer to have good knowledge of local suppliers based in the Cambridge area.
The Buyer's main role will be to interface between the site
and global sourcing organisations, representing the sites needs & support the local operative buyers who are responsible for New Product Introductions and prototypes from a sourcing /purchasing perspective - such as:
Material quotation
Setting up IFS
Help with material shortages
Following sourcing strategy
Be involved in COT work together with local purchasing teams be responsible for purchasing KPIs.
Responsibilities:
Sourcing new suppliers and optimising current suppliers' portfolio for direct and indirect material.
Responsibility for a process of qualifying & evaluation of new suppliers.
Working with customers' enquiries.
Negotiating contracts and other terms and conditions with local and global suppliers.
Market watching and running appropriate analyses.
Participation in building sourcing strategy.
Requirements:
Higher education and/or directional education.
Minimum 3 years experience in a similar position within a manufacturing environment.
Experience in international negotiations.
Very good interpersonal skills (building long term relationships with suppliers).
Experience in dealing with electronic components; passive and active, knowledge of global distributors of electronics components would be highly desirable.
